Ever year in late winter, Brian J. Alberg, Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Director at The Red Lion Inn, invites a group of like-minded chefs to travel to the James Beard Foundation in New York City to present a farm-to-table dinner featuring foods harvested in the Berkshire region. Produced since 2010, this collaborative event highlights innovative Berkshire chefs who present the multifaceted culinary artisanship of the region during a time when local food sourcing is quite the challenge.
The James Beard House is known as New York’s best-kept gastronomic secret. Located in the former townhouse of celebrated cookbook author and television personality James Beard, the James Beard House hosts more than 20 dining events monthly to showcase culinary artists from around the world, featuring multi-course dinners with wine pairings prepared by guest chefs.
Berkshire Farm & Table has been working in partnership with The Red Lion Inn and the James Beard Foundation to promote these annual dinners to a wider audience, produce national media coverage of the food culture of our region and to create a live, behind-the-scenes social media channel so interested audiences can follow the event online as it unfolds.
